Only One Jamaican Restaurant in Dorchester Center offers a straightforward, no-frills takeout experience rooted in authentic Jamaican and Caribbean flavors. This spot is best for anyone craving hearty, home-style dishes without the fuss of a sit-down meal—something locals appreciate when they want a quick, satisfying bite to go.

The menu is packed with classic Jamaican staples like curried goat, oxtail stew, jerk chicken, and rice and peas with curry chicken. You’ll also find comforting sides such as fried plantains, callaloo, and the notably popular mac and cheese, which pairs well with richer gravies. For soups, chicken soup and pumpkin soup stand out as warming options, perfect for cooler days or when you want something soothing and familiar.

Inside, you won’t find tables or much space to dine in, so it’s mainly a grab-and-go spot. This has shaped the atmosphere into more of a quick-service local stop rather than a leisurely restaurant setting. It fits naturally into the rhythm of Dorchester Center, serving people who either live nearby or work in the area and want a reliable place for flavorful, reasonably priced Jamaican food.

Visitors who enjoy straightforward, comforting Caribbean dishes will find a lot to like here. The beef patties come with a slightly sweet, tender bread that sets them apart, and the meat is often tender enough to fall off the bone, especially with the stewed chicken or oxtail. Drinks like peanut punch and coconut water round out the experience with traditional flavors not always available at other local eateries.

For those new to Jamaican food or seasoned fans wanting an easy takeout option, Only One Jamaican provides a grounded taste of the island’s cuisine in a casual, no-nonsense setting. Lunch or early dinner times on weekdays seem ideal for stopping by, as the place caters primarily to quick pickups rather than lingering meals.

Delicious take out restaurant. Don't recall ever having real Jamaican food before but now I'm a convert. Not really a place to sit down and eat and I don't recall there being tables or counters. Regardless, would recommend swinging by here for some high quality and cheap eats! Recommend the beef patty sandwich, the bread is sweet and so good! Chicken meat falls off the bone, but watch out, that spice doesn't hit right away.

Hey, so they have this yummy dish called ginger chicken (forgive me if that's not the name)this chicken bites are bomb, juicy and pack with flavor. You have it with the rice and beans, slap some of the juice from the chicken over it your taste buds will be jumping for joy. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for giving me a tasty experience Only One.
